The Temporal Formant display presents the same F1/F2 frequency data as in the Matrix display, but in a cross-time framework that is especially useful for work on durational articulation errors. This display can also be helpful for work on missing /s/ in connected speech, since those high frequency sounds have a distinct visual appearance. The therapist can switch between the Temporal and Matrix displays for any speech sample to determine which provides better visual representation of a particular speech error. In the Temporal display, she can also elect to use a direct overlay or split screen presentation of the sample, which separates the model and trial so that timing errors in particular are more apparent. For work on distortions of /s/ or other high frequency sounds, use the Formant Multi-Frequency Match or Temporal Display. |
